TORONTO; Dec. 14, 2018 – Women in Communications and Technology (WCT) announced that Accenture has become a national diamond sponsor of the organization to help further WCT’s work in supporting the advancement of women as leaders in Canada’s digital economy.
“We are thrilled to have Accenture support WCT in advancing the position of women in Canadian innovation,” says Joanne Stanley, executive director of WCT. “Through our research, we know that the business case for gender diversity has never been stronger and leads to stronger business results. WCT is proud to partner with a globally influential organization such as Accenture that works with a broad range of industries in the growing digital economy.”
WCT is a national community of more than 2,000 professional women working in communications, technology, information and media across Canada. The organization engages and inspires women in Canada’s technology and communications sectors by providing its members with career and skills development, mentorship and leadership recognition.
As part of this partnership, Accenture employees will gain access to WCT’s wide range of professional development, networking and mentorship programs in regional chapters across Canada through events, panels, workshops, and webinars.
Contributing human capital expertise, Accenture is joining forces with WCT to close the gender gap in digital industries. Through this partnership, Accenture will participate in thought leadership and research initiatives around women’s leadership in innovation in Canada, and help drive WCT’s expanding online forum for professional women.
“We’re pleased to support WCT and their programs to advance women, which is aligned with our global goal of reaching a 50/50 gender-balanced workforce by 2025,” said Claudia Thompson, Managing Director of Health & Public Service, and Managing Director of Inclusion & Diversity at Accenture in Canada. “A partnership with WCT enables our employees to access high-quality professional development and networking opportunities across Canada, which in turn will help Accenture meet our diversity and inclusion goals.”
Accenture’s Caroline Gayle, a Managing Director and Inclusion and Diversity representative for the company’s Technology business in Canada, will be joining WCT’s national board of directors to help steer WCT’s research and advocacy initiatives.
