WCT National Board of Directors Announces New CEO

Message from Cheryl Fullerton, Chair, Board of Directors

Rebecca Bailey, Chief Executive Officer, Women in Communications and Technology

On behalf of the National Board of Directors for Women in Communications and Technology, I am pleased to advise you of the appointment of Rebecca Bailey as Chief Executive Officer for WCT effective April 3, 2023.

Rebecca Bailey has 20 years of cross-sector experience in non-profit, philanthropy, technology and consulting. She has a proven track record of leading new initiatives and creating transformational change with a background in operations, project management and strategy.

Rebecca comes to WCT from the technology sector, having worked in both a public company and an emerging tech start-up. In these executive roles, Rebecca led efforts to improve organizational capacity, strategic planning, marketing and communications. Most recently, she oversaw the successful launch of a new product in the US.

Her passion for supporting women and gender equity extends to personal investment as an activator for women led start-ups, and acting as a career mentor for female technology professionals.

Rebecca is thrilled to bring her experience and her passion to lead WCT into its next chapter.

Rebecca’s appointment follows Joanne Stanley’s decision last year to step down from the Executive Director role, and the Board’s subsequent search for her successor.

Over the past 10 years, Joanne Stanley led WCT through significant changes in the organization to deliver high value programs to support gender equity within digital industries across Canada. Most recently, she navigated WCT through the pandemic, effectively adapting programs and services to embrace the broad spectrum of diversity necessary to create a more innovative Canada.

On behalf of the board, I want to thank Joanne for her invaluable contributions to WCT.  Her steadfast leadership has been crucial to strengthening our foundation and positioning the organization for the future.

Joanne will support Rebecca over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition. Both look forward to greeting WCT supporters on May 1, 2023 at the annual Leadership Excellence Awards Gala in Ottawa.

Thank you for your ongoing support of WCT.

Cheryl Fullerton,

Chair, Board of Directors
